ICBME Young Investigator Award 2016

For over a decade, ICBME has attracted high quality papers from authors who have demonstrated creativity and excellent research in biomedical engineering.  To recognise the efforts and contributions of these authors, the organisers will be presenting the Young Investigator Award (YIA) to authors with outstanding papers.

Qualifying Criteria

The YIA will be assessed based on creativity, originality and the impact on biomedical engineering and healthcare.  Single authored paper is preferred and the author must be 35 years of age or below in 2016.  However, multi-authored paper can still be submitted for consideration if the young investigator is the first author and a letter from his/her supervisor or co-author(s) verifying his/her significant contributions to the research paper can be submitted.

Submission Process

To be considered for the YIA, authors are required to indicate their interest when completing the online abstract submission form.  Should the abstract be accepted, the author is expected to submit a four-page paper for the Award Selection Committee for review, before he/she may be shortlisted for presentation at the YIA sessions during the conference. Shortlisted YIA presenters will be informed of their presentation schedule in advance, and would be required to complete the registration payment and be present at the conference to deliver their presentation.

Judging (Updated!)

The judging will be based on both the quality of the paper submitted and the actual presentation at the conference. The following cash prizes will be awarded to the 6 finalists:

1st Prize : SGD 1,000
2nd Prize : SGD 750
3rd Prize : SGD 500
3 x Merit Prizes : SGD 300 each
